Greetings from Chair

        Welcome to the home page of Department of Information Management.  We are a community of learners striving to create and share new knowledge.  Through our academic curriculum and the delivery of our programs and services, we offer students practical solutions to their needs for advancement and growth.  All professors here exhibit an unmatched commitment to teaching excellence and innovation, and are active researchers who regularly write and contribute to widely used textbooks and professional journals.  Every day, our students exhibit curiosity, hard work, and a willingness to face new challenges.  If you are one of this kind, welcome to join the department of Information Management in Meiho Institute of Technology.

History

        The Department of Information Management was established in 1999 with a two-year program offering an associate degree.  The Ministry of Education approved the evening college program to increase education opportunities for people holding full-time employment.  The department added a two-year night program offering an associate degree in 2000.  In 2002, four-years bechelor programme, two-years adult education and four-year evening programs offering a bachelor degree were added in order to meet the change of the job market in computer information systems.

        The courses emphasize on system analysis and design, database management and implement, networking and business administration.  The main education goal of the department is to train our students with critical thinking skills, excellent computer information knowledge, and business awareness.  After their graduation, students can easily obtain entry- and middle-level position in the IT related job market.

        For more than ten years, Meiho Institution of Technology has been authorized test center for IT certification of CSF, Cisco, and International Prometric Test.  We strongly encourage students to take license tests as a way of pursuing excellent IT skills.

Educational goals

        The degree of Information Management (IM) in the Meiho Institute of Technology is structured to prepare individuals for careers in system analysis, the design of computer based information systems, and management of the organization information function.

        The program's emphases are on the understanding of organizational environments that give rise to the need for information systems and the tasks of designing and implementing cost effective systems for information processing.  Consideration is given to the technological, organizational, and human relations aspects of implementing information systems.

        The I.M. program courses have a managerial and conceptual focus.  The concepts are broad reaching and will provide a solid foundation for your future career.  Many courses covering the latest technology, programming languages, and software are available from the department of I.M. in Meiho Institute of Technology.

        As a member of the Networking Academy of Cisco Corporation, the Department focuses its educational training on the development of network construction and system management for businesses and industries. The Department is actively preparing students to acquire technical and professional certifications/licenses and to become experienced information managers through intensive instruction and practical training.

Introduction to Computers, Basic Programming Design, Object-Oriented Programming Design, Introduction to Information Management, Operating Systems, Statistics, Fundamentals of Management, Accounting Principles, Economics, Calculus, Database Management Systems, Networking Theory And Practice, Data Structure, Unix Systems, System Analysis and Design, E-Commence, Information Systems Managements, Case Study of Information Systems Management, Practicum and Project, Information Ethics and Security.

Electives:
Laws in a Digital Era, Business Application Programs, Production Management System, XML Program Design, Database Practice, Network System Management, Financial Management, Human Resources Management, Software Engineering, Enterprise Resources Planning, Costumes Relation Management, Project Management, Basic Web Page Design, Dynamic Web Page Design, Special Topic and Report Writing, Computer Organization and Technique.

 

Admission Requirements

        Prospective students may send their applications to the Office of Academic Affairs (OAA) of the Institute  between February 1 and March 31 with the following documents:

        • Two copies of the Application Form with a 2” photo attached to each
        • A notarized Chinese or English translation copy of diploma of foreign institution with the highest degree earned
          and English translation copy of the transcripts for the curricula completed
        • A Chinese or English transcript: applicants for undergraduate programs shall have a G.P.A (grade point
          average) of C, or better, or an average of 70, or better, in major subjects
        • Two letters of recommendations (including one from a professor of Chinese language and Literature)
        • Health Record (including HIV examination)
        • Studying plan (including motivations, limitations, and future prospects)
        • Affidavit (for adequate funding to support study in Taiwan)
        • Proof of health insurance and accident insurance presented upon enrollment.

        The Institute will arrange insurance matters for all uninsured students.
