The department belongs to the health and nursing college, which combines the strong line-up of professional teachers from the Department of Nursing, Institute of Healthcare, Institute of Health and Biotech Industry, Department of Biological Science and Technology, Department of Beauty Science and Department of Hospitality Management, etc. With the support of professional talents from various departments of the school, the department will intensify the students' learning of professional knowledge. Due to health business covering a wider range, the department, in addition to upholding the school's existing tradition and characteristics, also meets up with more and more teaching and research resources. The department's future development is mainly set to be the following characteristics:

1.  Become the personnel training center of health business administration in the southern region

Medical care industry management personnel development and training is the school's existing expertise, and a good foundation has been established in the quality of teachers, facility equipment as well as in cooperation with medical institutions. We are seeking to conduct the industrial personnel  investment programs (personnel training of Health Care Administrators) of Bureau of Employment and Vocational Training. In this program, we will train how to promote the personnel training of Health Care Administrators so that they can be respected in workplace, help the hospitals to pass evaluation and increase their competitiveness and employment opportunity. In order to coordinate with the marketing change and expand the cultivation of health business management talents, we have also seeked a certification class of "health promotion Administrators" in the southern area of Taiwan. And, in order to become more competitive in the rapidly changing external environment, in Sept. and Otc. of 2009 we have organized the first-phase and second-phase cultivation of Health Promotion Administrators and will subsequently hold "C (Primary) Class Health-related Physical Fitness Instructors."

  2. Become the health management consulting and teaching and research center in the southern region

Along with medical progress and arising technology, people have increased the health care concept, which allows the average life to extend, coupled with the trend of low fertility and birth rate, which have resulted in Taiwan being the world's second fastest aging population country (Japan is the first). Therefore, introducing health self-management into life will become an important indicator of health promotion. There are many teachers of the department participating in and hosting the “NEW 4R Program: Seniors construction and health management model innovation”, developing innovated NEW 4R wellness management model, which is to introduce nutrition, exercise, water, rest, respiration, recreation, and refreshment into life, and evaluate the efficiency of them being involved with the health indicator, create a healthy symbiotic platform to achieve the objective of health promotion, and establish the “NEW 4R Program Management Center”. In the future, more teachers will also be encouraged to devote themselves to the promotion of related work, and use the empirical medical specific efficiency to serve the community residents' health promotion.

3. Become the health business administration industrial and academic cooperation research center

Being a member in technical and vocational education system, the school does not only encourage the teachers to perform academic researches in order to upgrade personal academic status, but also hope teachers can at the same time create close integration with the industry, process industrial and academic cooperation studies and create a win-win-win situation for the industry, students and the school: a) providing effective recommendations for the industry to resolve operation and management problems, b) accumulating individual academic research achievement, c) providing training and learning opportunities for students. Currently, many teachers have joined health-related research projects. For example, the department has one research team to execute the "NEW 4R Program: Seniors construction and health management model innovation”, which combined the projects of "Full-range Health Service Research and Development Platform" and "Yearly enhancing manpower cultivation plan of the Institute of Technology Research and Development Center of Ministry of Education " in Health Service Research and Development Center. All integrated projects should meet the future development needs of the department and emphasize the research topics on health promotion and health service administration. We will develope a research group focusing on the topics related to health industry in order to increase our research power and assist the industries to increase their competitive strength. 

4. Become the database management center of the health industry service and marketing operation in the southern region

Through the development of "Innovative Health Administration System Platform" and the planning of "Meiho Health World" Health Information Management System (cooperated with Department of Information Technology),  the health condition and the disease risk of population can be evaluated according to the practical health examination data, the high risk population for diseases can continuously be  monitored and traced, all health indicators and risk assessment can be developed and the risk for disease can be immediately displayed according to the health examination data. With the development of this platform, teachers and students can do practical work in health information management related classes. This system can also provide a platform for use to the health industries so that the industries can understand the needs and the distribution of market. We can also provide the health industries with the professional consultation in customer management, service management and marketing management.
